John Man is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Business Process Transformation Champion where his primary expertise is in organizational performance and excellence. John enables managers and leaders to learn and apply tested methods that impact on the productivity of the organization and the quality of products and services delivered to stakeholders. He also deploys systems and structures in the work place that impact on business performance and process improvement and coach management teams to complete projects that implement value added changes in the organization.


As the principal director of Smart Process International (SPI), John act as a Business Process Transformation Lead. Besides that, he is the fellow of World Academy of Productivity Science and Six Sigma Society of Hong Kong. He has also been awarded as Outstanding Partner Lean Six Sigma by the Hong Kong Productivity Council.


John’s capabilities are based on more than 20 years of training and consulting work in the Asia Pacific Region. Through the exposure gained, he has refined the approaches and methods that enable people and organizations to achieve higher levels of work place performance and quality of work life.

Program Summary

Led by  certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Business Process Transformation Champion, John Man will help you create an end-to-end, coherent business process improvement system. You will learn to identify your existing business performance issues - whether its wastes, costs or quality or performance goals and embark on a systematic process analysis and re-design. You will discover the key stages of business process improvement and transformation including identifying improvement opportunities, managing the improvement process and measuring its effectiveness. Participants will understand the methodology of a Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) project implementation, its benefits and time-tested techniques and procedures to successfully execute BPR in your organization.

Day 1


Session 1: Making a Case for Business Process Redesign

  • Reasons for remaining steadfast to using process redesign methods
  • Process redesign imperatives and consequences for laggards

Session 2: Assessment of the organization’s mission and strategic goals

  • Organization’s mission and priorities
  • Alignment of products, services and delivery with the needs of its customers and stakeholders
  • The need for strategic business changes

Session 3: Identify Business Performance Issues and Performance Goals

  • Metric analysis for measuring business performance
  • GAPS analysis for setting directions
  • Identify Key Performance Indicators
  • Define, prioritize and select processes for transformation

Session 4: Readiness for Re-Engineering

  • The need for process re-engineering
  • Methodology and approach to process redesign
  • Creating the Business Case for process redesign
  • Integration of re-engineering projects with other process improvement efforts

Session 5: Process Analysis and Re-Design

  • ‘As-is’ process performance and capability analysis
  • Process redesign considerations and assessments including Lean requirements and Agility expectations
  • Design feasible alternatives that impact on cost and value delivery
  • Identify supporting structures for new process

 

Day 2

 

Session 6: New Process Reconstruction Implementation Plan

  • Incisive and relentless system ‘root’ cause analysis
  • Contingencies, controls and process fail measures
  • Data gateways and measurements for robust performance

Session 7: Ideas are turned into actions, and the organization’s natural resistance to change is mitigated. An implementation plan is developed that spells out the work that needs to be done, with time frames, milestones, decision points, and resource allocations. Pilot testing provides a method for refining the process and building support for the full implementation of the new process across the organization.
