Julia Shallcrass has more than 10 years’ experience as an employment lawyer.  As director of KiwiBoss, she specialises in delivering training on people management and employment law compliance to help clients create a better workplace.  Julia is an engaging facilitator, and her training is enjoyable, practical, and easy to understand.  

 

A regular webinar presenter for CCH Learning, Julia provides training through the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce, and has lectured in human resources for tertiary institutions. Through her training, she helps clients resolve staffing problems, clarify legal obligations, and manage contemporary HR issues.  Julia is also an employment columnist for the NZ Herald.

Program Summary

With regular changes and updates on the New Zealand labour requirement, this comprehensive two-day course will cover recent employment law changes, contemporary issues in HR, improving productivity, managing sick leave, and handling dismissals. 

 

In this practical course, you will find out how to apply recent employment law changes to minimum standards and parental leave.  Learn how to improve productivity along with retaining  in your organization, by boosting diversity and flexibility.  Find out how to use surveillance, technology and social media in your workplace, in accordance with the employment and privacy law.

 

Led by Julia Shallcrass, a specialist in employment law education, she will show you how to manage long-term sick leave, and provide support to employees returning from medical recuperation.  Furthermore, find out if you can terminate for medical incapacity.  This course is easy to understand and will provide you with the information you need know before exiting senior staff, including an employer’s obligations around dismissals.

Introduction

This comprehensive two-day course will cover recent updates on employment law changes, new employment standards (covering zero contract hours and employment minimum standards), sick/parental leave and handling terminations and dismissals effectively. 

 

Led by Julia Shallcrass, Employment Lawyers with over 15 years of advisory experience, Julia will show you how to  apply recent employment law changes to minimum standards and parental leave and ensure compliance with more robust process as the new minimum standards under Employment Standards Legislation Bill would require employers to have far more robust processes around record keeping. You will also know how to use the right surveillance, technology and social media in your workplace that is compliant with New Zealand's employment and privacy law.

 

This program will also provide you with comprehensive legal frameworks and proven techniques in handling grievances and disciplinary actions. You will find out how to conduct grievance handling and disciplinary procedures in your organization and identify acceptable reasons for dismissal and how to carry out termination and disputes while protecting your organization from costly litigations.
