TESTIMONIAL

"Michael presented a very engaging training session for our team on cyber security. We were keen to explore how to keep safe in the face of more and more companies being hacked and individual identities stolen, etc. With clever examples and his in-depth knowledge of business and new techniques being deployed, he made the session both fun and informative. The whole team was engaged and I feel that Michael helped us all with our personal digital security, but also the company - we have a better understanding and process."

- CEO, Chin Communications

Introduction

On June 2018, approximately 1.5 million patients’ personal information from SingHealth’s database was compromised by a sophisticated cyberattack, in what authorities have described as the most serious personal data breach in Singapore history. Confidential records belonging to the 1.5 million patients, including their names, NRIC numbers and addresses, were illegally accessed and copied and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s personal particulars and outpatient medication data were specifically targeted. Of this group, 160,000 had their dispensed medicines’ records stolen too. The whole turmoil was caused from an initial breach on a front-end work station which allowed the attackers to access into SingHealth’s IT system and subsequently obtain privileged account credentials to access the database. This has brought forward the concern of vulnerabilities and impact of the healthcare cyber security that may cause massive disruption and insecurity among the patients.
