10:10am | Test & Measurement Aspects of Future 5G Base Stations and UE Architectures
On the way to 5G some trends are getting clear, the need for larger bandwidth, a new base station architecture divided into centralised and distributed unit and the implementation of massive MIMO methods. These trends are going together with using additional frequencies, especially in the higher frequency ranges, like the mm-waves. In this presentation we would like to outline some impacts on the future base station and UE architectures with regard to new antenna systems inside, power consumption aspects and power amplifier design. Focus will be on some challenges of future test and measurement aspects like e.g. over the air testing aspects in R&D and production environment, power consumption analysis and component verification like power amplifiers linearization. |

TIME | AGENDA | |
9:00am – 12:00pm |
Post-Forum Workshop A: Low-Power Wide-Area (LPWA) Li-Fi Indoor Network as an innovative and Transformative Technology for 5G |
|
Li-Fi (Light-Fidelity), sometimes referred as Visible Light Communications (VLC), is a new technology for high-speed wireless communications through light emitting diodes (LEDs). LiFi is a promising candidate for wireless sensor communications in the NB-IoT ecosystem as well as the Cloud-RAN cellular network topologies. LiFi transceiver operates similarly under LoS or nLoS conditions, contributing to alternative Het-Net & small cells wireless networks integrations. Hence referring to cellular Li-Fi network or fempto to atto cell concepts for very high area spectral efficiencies, cellular operators would benefit from both capacity and Het-Net C-RAN design. LiFi is among well proposed innovative 5G technologies, still under research, for low power and low-cost indoor building deployment for smart cities/buildings, solving the looming spectrum crisis in wireless communications as well as contributing to green networks.
In this workshop, cellular operator engineers, managers as well as providers/entrepreneurs would benefit from:
