Red Stag Timber is an independent, privately owned timber company, based in Rotorua. It was established in 2003 to operate the Waipa Mill that was originally founded by the government in 1939 and subsequently privatised in 1996.

Red Stag Timber consists of a new USNR Tandem-Quadsaw sawmill line, with associated timber processing operations for kiln drying, planning, treating and remanufacturing. Two of New Zealand’s leading companies designing and manufacturing engineered timber solutions have joined forces.

McIntosh Timber Laminates, pioneers in Glulam for over 50 years and TimberBond Industries, operating for 20 years have merged and re-launched their businesses as TimberLab Solutions Ltd. A move that sees a combined Auckland workforce of 33 operating from their 3500 square metre plant in East Tamaki delivering Glulam and other engineered timber products throughout New Zealand and, significantly, to offshore markets.

As pioneers of Glulam production in New Zealand, TimberLab have also been at the forefront of production technology with extensive involvement in development of design and manufacturing codes for Glulam.

For the past 40 years we have specialised in the provision of complete design, manufacture, supply and installation supervision of packaged timber structures. From the plant in Auckland New Zealand, 65% of the production is for off shore international projects.

The Design Association has supported the professional development of designers since 1946.

Back then it was known as the NZ Institute of Draughtsmen. We are a membership organisation of people interested and practicing in design. This includes architectural and engineering designers within New Zealand and overseas. Today we are run by a board of directors (who are practitioners just like you).  Membership is open to individuals who are interested or practicing in design. Our Members include self-employed Designers through to Members working within multinationals. Our members enjoy multi-channel communication with other like-minded individuals within the design industry; providing great support and networking. We welcome all membership inquiries.
