Dr Greg Adamson is a security professional specialising in financial services and healthcare. He is currently Chief Risk and Security Officer at Medikey, a personal data store which protects private health data of individuals. He has worked in industry, government, and academia. In 1993 Greg established the CISO role at the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service, and later Medibank Private’s secure gateway environment. For eight years he managed operational risk including cybersecurity for ANZ’s Transaction Banking, a $1.7bn business unit. He then became University of Melbourne Enterprise Fellow in Cybersecurity, where he remains an honorary Associate Professor. Immediately prior to this role, Hamish led responses to COVID-19 in the Home Affairs COVID-19 Task Force. Hamish has also been the First Assistant Secretary of National Security and Law Enforcement Policy in the Department of Home Affairs where he delivered Australia’s first ever modern slavery act, surveillance, investigatory powers and lawful access reforms, as well as hardening of Australia’s counter money laundering, illicit firearms, terrorist financing and child exploitation regimes.
