TIME AGENDA
Morning Site Tour 1: Laing O’Rourke Innovation Lab

Site Tour 1Engineering has gone digital. Powered by 3D modelling, virtual reality, real-time data mapping and more, infrastructure designers and builders are reaping huge benefits in efficiency, quality and sustainability. Among these is engineering & construction giant Laing O’Rourke, whose highly developed digital engineering capabilities have delivered one of the UK’s most technically complex buildings, the Francis Crick Institute, and the innovative multi-modal Heathrow Terminal 5, among others.

Delve into how they did it in this exclusive tour of Laing O’Rourke’s Innovation Lab, described by the Australian Financial Review as “resembling something like the futuristic lab of James Bond’s eccentric Q character…a playroom of robotic arms, 3D printers, cyborg-like exoskeletons and digital screens”. You will learn more about the technologies and methodologies leading the engineering & construction of tomorrow.

Afternoon Site Tour 2: VR Simulator for Mining
The messy burden of multi-disciplinary industrial collaboration is set to become a thing of the past, thanks to digital engineering techniques and the power of immersive technology. From generative design to rapid prototyping to data visualization, digital asset management and much more, digital engineering enables experts and stakeholders from across the project spectrum to work more efficiently, on the same page, all the way from concept to delivery.

Experience one example of this – a virtual reality tool used to create authentic 4D simulations of real-life mining operations for training purposes. You will see how VR enables the confluence of the technical and the environmental for effective collaboration, and how this can be adapted to drive success in other engineering disciplines.

Space in Each Site Tour is Limited, Registrations Will Be Available On First Come, First Reserved Basis
