TIME AGENDA
10:00am – 12:00pm Workshop A:

Co-designing Indigenous Suicide Prevention Strategies And Programs With Local Communities

Rising concerns on Indigenous suicide has led Elders and grassroots organizations to call for unity among Indigenous peoples and groups, and develop prevention strategies by focusing on reconnecting people with the country and culture. This workshop will show you how you can collaborate with the Indigenous community in designing a suicide prevention strategy, from creating an awareness campaign to identifying early warning signs of suicidal behavior and recognizing social and cultural indicators for support & mentorship intervention.

Workshop B:

Indigenous-specific Suicide Prevention Training

One of the biggest challenges in addressing the rising concern on Indigenous suicide cases is the different risks and factors that lead to suicidal behavior among the Indigenous community. This workshop will enlighten you with key techniques in effectively engaging and communicating with the Indigenous community, through delving into cultural differences to understand the main drivers of self-destructive behavior and suicide. You will able to translate your understanding into developing effective suicide prevention tools and intervention strategies to improve wellbeing among Indigenous communities.
